Created for Relationship
God created you because He loves you and wants to have a personal relationship with you.
There is a Problem...
We have all done things that block us from experiencing a relationship with God. No one has to be taught how to do wrong things. Something inside of us just gravitates to wrong sometimes. The Bible talks about this as our bent toward disobeying God. This disobedience is what the Bible calls sin.
Because God is perfectly holy, our sin separates us from Him. The sin has to be removed for the relationship to be made right.
There is Hope for the Relationship...
Until we recognize that we have sin, we cannot understand how our sin blocks having a relationship with a holy and a just God. The justice of God demands that the price of sin is death-both physical and spiritual death. That is a high price! There is nothing we can do-within ourselves-to take away the wrongs that we have done to have a relationship with God. We need help!
There is hope! In God's mercy and love He made a way for the price of our sin to be paid! Jesus, God's own Son, came to earth and lived the perfect life without any sin. Jesus came so He could die on the cross and pay the price of all sin. He took sin to the cross, died, and then was raised from the dead. In His resurrection He offers life to us-real life, eternal life. We have hope for a relationship with God through Jesus!
How We Enter into the Relationship...
If Jesus has already paid the price for all sin, then is everybody's relationship ultimately restored with God? Not everybody. The Bible says to have a personal relationship with God we have to receive Jesus for who He is and what He did-He is Lord and Savior.
Jesus is the one we surrender charge of our lives to-He is Lord. We turn away from rebelling from God (repent) and start following Jesus. He is the One we trust to have died as our substitute, saving us from the price of death for our sin-He is Savior. He is the only way to God. The Bible says:
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10How to Have a Personal Relationship with God
Would you like to have a personal relationship with God? You can right now if you will say Yes to Jesus-to who He is and to what He did for you. Are you are willing to repent of your wrongs and trust in Jesus to forgive you? If that is what you want to do, just talk to Him and tell Him. If the prayer that is written below is what you want to do, then pray to God-He is listening to your heart:
God, I believe that Jesus is your Son. Jesus, I believe You died on the cross for me, paid the price of my sin and rose from the dead. I surrender my life to you Jesus. Would you forgive me for all of my sins and give me eternal life? Jesus I accept you as the Lord and Savior of my life.
Lord, thank you for loving me, forgiving me and giving me eternal life! Now, I trust you to help me live and grow in this new life you have given me!
If you have put your trust in Jesus, surrendering your life to Him by faith, He has forgiven you and given you eternal life. The Bible says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God." Ephesians 2:8. You are a new person, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" 2 Corinthians 5:17
Tell someone today about your decision to trust Jesus! Here are some ways you can begin to grow in your relationship with God:
- Start praying-just talking to God and ask Him to teach you about Himself
- Read the section in the Bible that is called Luke-it tells the story about Jesus
- Find a Christian church, that teaches the Bible and start going
- Enjoy getting to know God and your new life with Him!
- Remember-God loves you!
